The Hunger Games’ and ‘Bridesmaids’ topped all nominees for the MTV Movie Awards – announced this morning – and will compete against each other for the title of Movie of the Year. Which begs the question: What year are we talking about?

Don’t get me wrong. Both movies are great, in their own ways. But ‘Bridesmaids’ came out on May 13, 2011 and ‘Hunger Games’ hit theaters on March 23, 2012. So how are they both competing for awards in the same year?

Beyond ‘The Hunger Games,’ MTV recognized a slew of extremely popular films that dominated the box-office charts last year. The three additional films rounding out the Movie of the Year category are ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,’ ‘The Help’ and ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.’ There are new categories this year for “Best On-Screen Dirt Bag” and “Best Gut-Wrenching Performance.” And ‘Drive’ scored some surprising – but well-deserved – love from MTV’s panel of movie experts.

The MTV Movie Awards airs live on June 3. Click here to vote for your favorite movies. Here are your nominees:
