Welcome to National Dress Your Pet Day - January 14th!

Today is the day your cat or dog runs for the hills, hiding under the bed and waiting until tomorrow to come out. It's NATIONAL DRESS YOUR PET DAY. The dog in the picture is Jasper, a rescue at POM E RANCH in Colorado. He makes a great Eeyore, don't you think?

National Dress Up Your Pet Day was founded in 2009 by Celebrity Pet Lifestyle Expert and Animal Behaviorist Colleen Paige as a fun way to celebrate our beloved pets and to support the pet fashion community.

Colleen says: "It's important to remember though, that it's not a day to disrespect our pets with uncomfortable, vulgar and/or seasonally inappropriate costumes for the sake of a laugh or photo shoot. Have fun with your pets by dressing them in cute but safe costumes - keep your pet's comfort level in mind when involving him/her in this fun novelty day.

"Make sure that your pet can see and hear properly and that they aren't wearing something that might overheat them or incorporate any parts that they may chew off and swallow. You may also want to include more treats and toys into your activities to make it a truly enjoyable experience for your beloved furry ones! And remember....ADOPT! DON'T SHOP!"
