In 1992, Clint Eastwood won two Academy Awards for his depiction of Big Whiskey, Wyoming, in the film "Unforgiven". According to a new Reddit article ranking the top rated films in all 50 states, the gritty western is the most popular movie among Wyoming residents.

The article, which includes a map showing each state's favorite film, is based on user ratings derived from the Internet Movie Database, or IMDB. Predictably, the most popular movies by state are often determined by geography. For example, "Nebraska" is the highest rated movie in the state of Nebraska. "The Shining", which was filmed in Estes Park, Colorado, is the highest rated film among IMDB users in Colorado.

Overall, "The Shawshank Redemption" is the highest rated film nationwide, followed by "The Godfather", "The Godfather, Part II", "The Dark Knight" and "Pulp Fiction". "Fargo" is the only movie to receive the highest ratings in more than one state, ranking as the most popular film in both North Dakota and neighboring Minnesota.
