New Cheyenne Public Safety Center Demolition Begins With a Bang

The Cheyenne Police Department along with Cheyenne Fire and Rescue began the demolition of the former Dineen car dealership building in downtown Cheyenne Tuesday to make way for a new Public Safety Center. 

Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak said part of the existing dealership building will be incorporated into the new structure. He said the building will include a community room which can be used for free.

In 2012, Laramie County voters approved spending $25 million in sixth penny sales tax revenues on the building, which will house the Cheyenne Police Department as well as the Cheyenne Fire & Rescue administration as well as the combined communications center and other emergency responders.

Kozak says the building is scheduled to open in January of 2016.
