New Winter Storm Watch Posted for Laramie, I-80 Corridor

More heavy snowfall is possible for much of southeast Wyoming from Thursday evening through Friday afternoon, according to a winter storm watch issued by the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

The advisory says another storm system will move from Arizona early Thursday evening to northern New Mexico Friday morning and into eastern Colorado by early Friday evening. Affected areas will likely include Arlington, Elk Mountain, Centennial, Albany, Bosler, Laramie, Buford, Pumpkin Vine, Vedauwoo, Whitaker, Federal, Horse Creek, Cheyenne, and Pine Bluffs.

According to the National Weather Service, lower elevations could get five to eight inches of snow while 12 to 15 inches is possible over the mountains.

Northeast winds of 10-20 mph Thursday night are predicted to increase to 15-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph Friday. Travelers will likely feel the greatest impact, with areas of blowing snow and visibilities near zero at times.

The winter storm watch will be in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday.
