NFL Network Draft Expert Coming To Laramie For Wyoming Pro Day
All eyes will be on Josh Allen Friday, including NFL Network draft expert Mike Mayock, who will be reporting live from the University of Wyoming Pro Day.
Mayock currently projects Allen will be the second quarterback selected. Mayock raved about Allen's size, athleticism, and arm strength at the NFL Combine, even suggesting that the Cowboys QB could be a better prospect than Carson Wentz, who played for Wyoming coach Craig Bohl at North Dakota State.
"He's got a bigger arm than Wentz. He's a better athlete than Wentz. I don't know if he brings the intangibles to the table that Wentz does, the leadership and the football IQ, but that's what the decision makers have to find out," Mayock said.
Allen helped silence critics who questioned his accuracy at the Combine and the Senior Bowl, where he threw for two touchdowns and was named the Most Outstanding Player for the North. Another impressive performance on Friday could catapult Allen even higher in the draft.
Along with Allen, several former Cowboys will participate in Wyoming's Pro Day. Offensive lineman Ryan Cummings is projected as a 6th or 7th round pick. Cornerback Rico Gafford and fullback Drew Van Maanen could also hear their name called on the final day of the draft.
Over the years, 82 former Wyoming Cowboys have been selected in the draft. Two former Pokes were drafted last year; lineman Chase Roullier and running back Brian Hill. Eddie Yarbrough, Tanner Gentry, and Jacob Hollister also made NFL rosters as undrafted free agents.
