When it comes to a state's history, like Wyoming, one must accept the good and the bad, as you cannot change it. Unfortunately, a tragedy took place on this date in 2005.

Sam Walton built a retail juggernaut before he passed away, and his fortune and business was handed down to his children.

This is not the first time an heir has passed away, but on this day in 2005, reports came that John T. Walton, son of Sam Walton, died in a plane crash near the Jackson Hole Airport.

He was flying a CGS Hawk Arrow homemade aircraft, also registered as an experimental aircraft, and crashed in Jackson, Wyoming. Mr. Walton was a pilot during the Vietnam War and piloted aircraft for Walmart, for a time.

Prior to his death, he was estimated to be worth about 18.2 billion dollars. He is survived by his wife Christy and their son Lukas.
