A Laramie County couple are facing felony charges of animal cruelty in connection with illegal cockfighting.

Louisa Carlos, 30, has been arrested in connection with the investigation into cockfighting. She has been released on her own recognizance and faces a February 9 arraignment date. Due to a computer error she was originally charged with a misdemeanor, but that has since been upgraded to the felony charge.

Luis Carlos-Garcia also faces a felony animal cruelty charge,  but at last report authorities were still looking for him.

Felony animal cruelty carries a potential penalty of up to two yeas in prison and a $5,000 fine under Wyoming law.
