The extended Veterans Day weekend was a busy one for the Wyoming Highway Patrol, as troopers made two major drug busts near Cheyenne.

On Friday, two Kansas men were arrested after a trooper pulled them over for speeding on Interstate 80 about ten miles west of Cheyenne and discovered 70 pounds of marijuana, 100 electronic cigarette cartridges loaded with THC oil and $2,400 in cash in their SUV.

The two were charged with felony possession of marijuana and felony possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

The seized marijuana and THC oil had an estimated street value of $290,000.

On Saturday, two San Jose, California residents were arrested after a trooper pulled them over for speeding on Interstate 80 near Cheyenne and discovered 16 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a speaker box.

The two were charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

The seized methamphetamine had an estimated street value of $1.8 million dollars.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation assisted the Patrol with both arrests.
