Extreme fire danger has prompted Wyoming Game and Fish officials to follow Goshen County in implementing a partial fire ban on commission-owned lands within the county.

Affected areas include Springer, Table Mountain and Rawhide Wildlife Habitat Management areas as well as Packers Lake and North Platte River public access areas.

Under a partial ban, it's okay to have contained campfires and grill out. Welding, using a cutting torch and smoking must be done in a cleared area of at least ten feet in radius.

On August 1, the fire ban will become a full ban, which means building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, charcoal grill, coal or wood burning stove as well as smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or designated area, will be prohibited.

The WGFD says the fire danger will be monitored on a weekly basis and the ban will be lifted when conditions improve.
