Peter Frampton Set For A Trio of Summer Dates with the Doobie Brothers
Fresh off a celebrated sideman stint on the star-packed CBS special ‘The Beatles: The Night That Changed America,’ Peter Frampton will hit the road for a series of summer dates with some other big names.
His website reports that he’s set to play three dates with the Doobie Brothers in June and July, and will play host to a one-night Guitar Circus event with Buddy Guy in Los Angeles this August. More dates are to come for the Guitar Circus, which has previously featured Don Felder of the Eagles, Roger McGuinn of the Byrds, B.B. King and others.
“I’m still pinching myself after getting the opportunity to play with such great musicians/artists,” Frampton says of his performance on ‘The Night That Changed America.’ “Having known Ringo, George and Paul since I was 21, this truly was a gift to be able to honor them with, of course, John. They changed my life so much for the better.”
Frampton will appear with the Doobies on June 26 (Holmdel, N.J.), July 12 (Bethel, N.Y.) and July 13 (Wantagh, N. Y.) The show with Guy is scheduled for Aug. 27 at the Hollywood Bowl. In the meantime, Frampton has just helped oversee the release of an expanded set of Fillmore performances by his old band Humble Pie. He says he’s going to release a collaboration with the Cincinnati Ballet via digital download next.
