After months of orange cones and detour signs, 19th Street between Snyder Avenue and Missile Drive is now open to Cheyenne motorists.

Assistant City Engineer Nathan Beauheim, who serves as the 19th Street Reconstruction Project Construction Manager for the city, says Phase II of the project is now 70 percent complete.

"We are happy with the progress being made on this project by Reiman Corp. and the work they have done so far," said Beauheim.

Work continues between Snyder Avenue and Pioneer Avenue.

Beauheim says businesses on the north side north side of 19th Street can be accessed from 20th Street, and businesses on the south side can be accessed from 18th Street.

"As construction continues, we want to make sure that everyone has access to those businesses," said Beauheim.

Phase II, which stretches from Pioneer Avenue to Crow Creek, will include new water and sewer lines; curb, gutter and sidewalk replacement; and extensive stormwater and drainage work.

The $5.4 million project is expected to be completed by the end of November. Funding for the project comes from the 5th Penny Sales Tax and the Board of Public Utilities.

Construction on Phase III, which will run from Pioneer Avenue to Warren Avenue, will begin after Cheyenne Frontier Days. The project hasn't gone out to bid yet, but it's expected to be completed by the end of November as well.
