The Cheyenne Frontier Days Challenge Rodeo is a tradition all its own.In its 18th year, the Challenge Rodeo pairs special-needs children with the PRCA rodeo contestants in a modified rodeo performance.

The children are assisted in events which include 8 -second bull rides, barrel racing, steer roping using broomstick horses for travel and a solid push to wrestle the roughstock. Bull riders sit secure in the knowledge that they’ll be gently see-sawed by the professional cowboys as families and friends cheer them on.

The participants are recognized individually with a certificate and a trophy. After the Challenge rodeo, the children are treated to lunch and a trip to the carnival by volunteers.
