Pine Bluffs may soon be home to a new distilling facility.

Laramie County Commissioner Amber Ash says Wyoming Malting is evaluating water and sewer costs and trying to finalize a location for the plant.

The distillery would turn locally grown grains into malt that would be sold to craft and microbreweries.

Ash says not only will the facility bring jobs to the eastern part of the county, it will fill a niche in the market.

"We can take a product that's already in Wyoming, that we're already growing and selling, and then we can value enhance it and sell it for more," said Ash.

The distillery would be one of the largest of its kind in the country.
