This weekend, I was faced with a terrifying choice:  I could either go an entire day without eating or I could actually leave the house on a cold, snowy night.  Instead I ordered a pizza.

As I sat on the couch in my sweatpants and slippers, it dawned on me how truly important pizza delivery guys are to society, especially during snow storms.  They brave the elements every night, risking life and limb so the rest of us don't have to.

45 minutes later, when the pizza delivery guy arrived, he apologized profusely, claiming that they were incredibly busy that night.  I made a point to thank him for his service to our community, tipped him 5 bucks and told him to be careful out there.

Admittedly, the word "hero" is often overused in this day and age.  As much as we appreciate the sacrifices of the brave men and women in our military and the police, firefighters and paramedics who work hard to keep us safe, let's also remember the courage of those hard working pizza delivery guys.
