As Cheyenne Frontier Days 2016 winds down, event organizers will soon be busy planning CFD 2017.

General Chairman Bill Berg says the planning for the next Cheyenne Frontier Days starts almost immediately after the annual western celebration ends.

''We take a look at what worked, what didn't work and what we might do differently next year" he says. Berg says comments from both visitors and CFD volunteers are taken into account.

In fact this year two of the night shows--Jason Aldean and Thomas Rhett--have already been announced for 2017.

Berg says an event designed to entertain over 600,000 people doesn't just happen, so it's important to get started on the planning process early.

The planning gets underway in August, not leaving much of a break after the end of one CFD before work on the next one starts.

Much of the work on CFD is done by volunteers. Berg says somewhere in the range of 2,500 volunteers had a hand in CFD 2016.
