Economic development leaders are hoping the addition of a water feature at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza will draw more people downtown.

Design plans released by the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority on Thursday call for a water curtain that cascades down, a splash area and seating for picnicking.

A canopy will tie in with the existing stage area and new lighting will be added to attract more nighttime visitors.

It was hoped funding for the project would come from the next sixth-penny ballot, but the Cheyenne City Council may decide to pull the project from the May 2 ballot. In the event that happens, the DDA says additional funding sources will be sought.
