Police Respond to Stabbing

Cheyenne Police Detectives continue to investigate a stabbing that occurred last night at 3815 Holmes Avenue that sent one woman to the hospital. Cheyenne Police Department Spokesman Officer Dan long says officers responded to the residence about 6:30 p.m. and found a 28-year-old Cheyenne woman with a stab wound. The woman was transported to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Her condition is currently unknown.

Thirty year old Cheyenne resident Christopher Cauwenberghs was believed to have assaulted the woman during a domestic dispute. Cauwenberghs fled from the scene when officers arrived, but was later apprehended by police. Cauwenberghs was arrested and booked into the jail on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, interference with peace officers and domestic violence charges.

This case remains under investigation by Cheyenne Police Detectives.
