A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department says that agency will be focusing on violations of traffic laws in school zones when school resumes Tuesday.

Officer Dan Long says a police officer will be stationed near every school zone and will be watching closely for traffic violations in those areas. Long says motorists need to be aware of school zones and the special regulations that are in effect in those zones as well as paying attention to school buses, especially when kids are getting on or off the bus. When entering a school zone motorists are required to reduce their  speed to 20 mph and yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.

Motorists must stop anytime a school bus is flashing it's red lights, indicating a stop.
