It may be more than a year off, but the 2018 Wyoming U.S. Senate race is already generating headlines, at least on the Republican side.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is reportedly trying to recruit Eric Prince, the founder of Blackwater, to run. Prince, who is the brother of Education Secretary Betsy Devos, has not said whether he will run.

Foster Friess, a Jackson-area resident and major donor to Republican political candidates, is also considering a run, according to a recent report in the Washington Post.

Incumbent Republican John Barrasso has held the seat since 2008 and has not said whether he will run for re-election. However, he does say he was recently contacted by the Trump administration about the possibility of serving as Health and Human Services Secretary.

He says he turned down that possibility because he wants to continue serving in the U.S. Senate.

Of the possible Republican candidates, do you have a favorite? Just to be clear, none of the people in our survey has formally said they will run for the Senate.

This is an unscientific poll.
