The Cheyenne Police Department will be participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, according to spokesman Officer Dan Long.

He says local residents can anonymously drop off prescription drugs in a safe manner keeping them out of the hands of juveniles and drug abusers. Long says prescription drug abuse is on the rise, with most juveniles getting access to the drugs at home.

Long says police will be taking the drugs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the lobby of the police department.

He says police also have a drop off box where people can drop off expired prescription drugs weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
