Despite being America's least populated state, and never being a "key state" in the electoral college, Wyoming has hosted many United States Presidents.

According to the Wyoming State Archives, 24 of the United States' 44 presidents have been to the Cowboy State.

The earliest visit recorded was Ulysses S. Grant in 1880. He spoke at a banquet in Cheyenne and dined at the Union Pacific Depot.

The 1980's and 1990's saw an increase in presidential visits. Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan vacationed in Jackson Hole. George H.W. Bush went fishing near Cody and Yellowstone. He also attended Cheyenne Frontier Days and spoke at the University of Wyoming.

Bill Clinton vacationed and golfed in Jackson Hole, he also received a cowboy hat from Governor Mike Sullivan during a stop at the Cheyenne Airport...

George W. Bush brough his campaign to Wyoming in 2000, speaking with Vice President and Casper-native Dick Cheney. The two spoke in Jackson Hole and Casper.

Most recently, Barack Obama visited Wyoming. He campaigned in Casper and Laramie before becoming president, and returned in 2009 with his family for a visit to Yellowstone.
