Cheyenne's new Public Safety Center will open its doors for public tours next week.

The $26.75 million state-of-the-art facility is home to the Cheyenne Police Department, Cheyenne Fire and Rescue Administration and the Laramie County 911 Communications and Emergency Operations Centers.

"We're going to be doing public tours next Thursday and Friday from noon until 8:00 p.m.," said Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak. "So the public is welcome to come down anytime during that time period."

Kozak says tours will be offered by appointment after May 13, but access to certain sensitive areas will be restricted.

The 6th penny project, which officially started with a "bang" on August 26, 2014, has reached substantial completion and is within budget.
