Visitors to Cheyenne should soon be able to get a better night's sleep thanks to a "quiet zone" being created at Wyoming's busiest railroad crossing.

Work is set to begin Wednesday to make it more difficult for vehicles to sneak around the closed crossing gates at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing at West Lincolnway and Southwest Drive. That should reduce the need for freight trains to blow their horns at drivers multiple times, making for quieter nights at the strip of hotels and motels along West Lincolnway. Let's face it trains, horns and a good nights sleep don't go together. I live near the BNSF yard in West Cheyenne and this is way of life.

Like the scene below out of MY COUSIN VINNY:

Vinny Gambini: Does that freight train come through here at 5:00 A.M. every morning?Hotel Clerk: No, sir, it's very unusual.Vinny Gambini: [the next day, after Vinny was awakened by the train] Yesterday you told me that freight train hardly ever comes through here at 5:00 A.M. in the morning.Hotel Clerk: I know. She's supposed to come through at ten after 4:00.
