A non-discrimination ordinance designed to protect Lesbian, Gay, Transexual and Bisexual people from discrimination has been drafted and may be formally proposed to the Cheyenne City Council at some point.

Supporters of the proposal say LGBT people currently have no legal protection from being fired, evicted or refused service because of their sexual or gender identity.

The proposal was written by a retired Cheyenne attorney.

Opponents argue the law isn't needed and say the issue would be better addressed at the state or federal level then through a city ordinance.
