Grand Avenue Pizza in downtown Laramie is more than just a pizza joint, it's one of the funnest restaurants in Wyoming.  I had heard about this place for years and finally had the chance to try it for the first time this weekend.  It ranks right up there with Mondello's Pizzeria in Cheyenne as the best locally owned pizza joint in the state.

But Grand Avenue has something that Mondello's doesn't have, a truly awesome atmosphere.  When you walk in the door, you are instantly greeted by murals depicting some of the greatest legends in rock 'n' roll history.  Paintings of Elvis, B.B. King, Carlos Santana, Jerry Garcia, Steven Tyler, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger cover the walls.  It looks like a museum.

Unlike other traditional pizza joints, Grand Avenue cooks up creative concoctions like the Thai Pie, Southwest Philly, and even Enchanted Broccoli.  Although they don't have beer on draft, their selection of craft brews is respectable.  They also offer a wide variety of salads, calzones, stromboli and appetizers.

In spite of it's contemporary menu and rockin' artwork, Grand Avenue retains is it's old school charm.  It's been on the same corner in Downtown Laramie for 31 years and has been a staple for generations of UW students, many of whom now come back with their own children.

Next time you're looking for a cool spot to hang out before or after a UW game in Laramie, you can't go wrong at Wyoming's Raddest Rock 'n' Roll Pizza Joint.
