In fact, Les owned this one and it would fetch upwards of $50,000 at auction. Les Paul is the man who invented the electric guitar, and this was from his honorable competition, Leo Fender, who passed away on this day in 1991 at the age of 81.

The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame says: "Rock and roll as we know it could not exist without Leo Fender, inventor of the first solid-body electric guitar to be mass-produced:

the Fender Broadcaster. Fender’s instruments – which also include the Stratocaster, the Precision bass (the first electric bass) and some of the music world’s most coveted amplifiers – revolutionized popular music in general and rock and roll in particular.

Wikipedia says "Leo Fender was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 - a unique achievement given that he never learned to play the instruments which he made a career of building."

Thank you Leo. Here's an education on his Stratocaster.
