Roger Daltrey Bringing “Tommy” To Colorado [VIDEO]

The lead singer of The Who recently premiered his band's performance of "Tommy" at The Royal Albert Hall in London to aid the Teenage Cancer Trust. Now he's taking it on the road, performing the rock opera from start to finish, in the U.S. and Canada. The Who never actually played the complete "Tommy."

Roger Daltrey will play at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado on Sunday, October 16th. Tickets go on sale for all the U.S. shows next Friday, May 20th through www.aeglive.com.

According to TheWho.com, the "Tommy" performance includes the use of striking visuals to accompany the music and the band will not only play the full rock opera but will break out some Who classics and other surprises.

Roger Daltrey's touring band features Frank  Simes (guitar), Scott Deavours (drums), Jon Button (bass), Loren Gold (keyboards) and also on guitar, Simon Townshend, Pete's younger brother.

Pete Townshend comments on the tour saying "it is wonderful to hear the way Roger and his new band re-interpret the old Who songs." Daltrey adds that "what my band and I are doing now is a "Tommy" show for today's audience from a different perspective."

Does that mean the "Pinball Wizard" will be replaced by a "Video Game Magician"? The original "Tommy, the Movie" features an all-star cast. Elton John is the Pinball Wizard, Eric Clapton plays the Preacher, Tina Turner portrays The Acid Queen, Jack Nicholson as the Specialist, Roger Daltrey becomes Tommy and his Mother and her lover are played by Ann-Margret and Oliver Reed.
