The Rolling Stones spent 2013 celebrating their 50th anniversary on the road, and it looks like they plan to continue their globetrotting streak with new dates in 2014.

At the very least, the Stones have confirmed that they'll head to Australia, where they'll christen the recently renovated Adelaide Oval with a gala performance on March 22. The venue's re-opening is a banner event for the city, and one whose importance necessitated a suitably major headlining act; as promoter Tony Cochrane put it in a press release announcing the show, "Adelaide Oval and the Government asked me to come up with the biggest night I could think of for this one off event to re-open Adelaide Oval -- that made it easy -- it had to be the Rolling Stones and it had to be on a massive scale!"

"It’s great to be invited to Adelaide to open the historic Oval," said Mick Jagger. "We’re really looking forward to doing this gig. It will be the first time we’ve been to Adelaide in nearly 20 years, so see you there!" His enthusiasm was matched by Keith Richards, who added, "Hi everyone down in Adelaide, it’s been a while since we were in your backyard ... See you on March 22 when we’ll take over your new stadium and make it our own, look forward to it."

In keeping with recent Stones tradition, the Adelaide gig will also feature an appearance from former member Mick Taylor, as well as a no-expenses-spared set design that will reportedly include a huge ramp extending directly into the audience. And as Vintage Vinyl News reports, more Australian dates are expected to follow, with a Melbourne show rumored to be next on the schedule.

The pre-sale for tickets to the March 22 concert, which start at $79, is scheduled to begin on Nov. 21. For more information, visit the Adelaide Oval website.
