Ryan Gosling has indie cred, box office cred and, from the looks of this video, street cred.

On Saturday, the 30-year-old ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ actor spotted two men scuffling over a painting in middle of a Manhattan intersection. Onlookers had been trying to get them to stop fighting, but it wasn’t until Gosling jumped in and physically separated the combatants that the skirmish ended.

Gosling, looking buff in a sleeveless shirt, makes his appearance at about the 30-second mark of the video. Soon after, the young ladies who had stopped to film the fight recognize Gosling as “the guy from ‘The Notebook,’” and start squealing.
