Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power is reminding Laramie County residents about National Safe Digging Day on August 11th.

Spokeswoman Sharon Fain says the day serves as a reminder of the state law that requires people  to call 811 before they break ground on any construction or excavation project. Calling 811 will allow for the marking of underground utility lines, which will be done free of charge.

People are required to call the toll free number at least two business days before they actually start digging. The law applies to all digging, even for something  as simple as digging a hole for a fencepost. More information about 811 and safe digging practices in general can be seen at the CLFP website.
