Governor Matt Mead has declared October 20th to 26th as National Save for Retirement week in Wyoming. Polly Scott spokeswoman for the Wyoming Retirement System says it is never too early to start saving for your retirement.

Scott says what most people want is to " maintain their same lifestyle in retirement but  without working and that takes a lot of assetts." She says they advise their members that they should "strive to be able to replace 100 percent of their pre-retirement income in retirement."

The Wyoming Retirement System is hosting education seminars all this week around the state. The WRS will also host a retirement fair on Wednesday October 23rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Emerson Building in Cheyenne during National Save for Retirement Week. This year’s fair focuses on investment strategies for retirement assets where participants will learn basic investment information relating to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, the state’s supplemental savings plan. Besides WRS resources and staff, the fair will feature representatives from Social Security and Employees’ Group Insurance.
