The Sawmill Canyon Fire at over 14,000 acres is now 50 percent contained. The was reported on Saturday, July 14, located 7 miles southeast of  Glendo.Residents saw an increase of smoke due to burnout operations on the fire line.  Smoke could be seen

around surrounding communities and low lying areas throughout the day.

Incident Commander Ron Graham said Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning’s burnout was successful, and crews were able to complete over 7 miles of line. Meadowdale Road is now open to the public.  All campgrounds on the east side of Glendo State Park will be open Thursday, July 19. The fire caused no damage to facilities at Glendo or Guernsey State Parks.  No structures are immediately threatened. No injuries or fatalities.

Large fire apparatus are utilizing the Patton Creek Road and Immigrant Road. Travelers are asked to

avoid these roads if possible.
