Scientist at University of Texas Creates Invisibility Cloak [VIDEO]

Invisibility Cloak
MSNBC

While it might sound like something straight out of the ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter,’ Dr. Ali Aliev of the University of Texas has actually created a functional invisibility cloak. Finally, a way to get out of meeting the in-laws.

Aliev discovered that when carbon nanotubes are heated, they’re capable of bending light around an object and making it seem as if it’s disappeared.

The technology is still in its infancy, however, and is probably years away from a practical application. Sorry, but you won’t be recreating your favorite scenes from the Potter films just yet.

Watch the video below to see Aliev’s invisibility cloak in action.
