Some people will be staying indoors for the eclipse on Monday, August 21. They will be watching the livestreams from NASA.

A NASA research plane will show the first video of the total solar eclipse as part of a livestream on NASA TV. It will show the total solar eclipse shadow of the moon as it comes ashore on the coast of Oregon.

NASA will host two live feeds as the eclipse crosses 12 states along its 2,500-mile path from Oregon to South Carolina.

For most the total solar eclipse will last less than two and half minutes. But for one team of NASA-funded scientists, the eclipse will last over seven minutes. They will be following the shadow of the Moon in two retrofitted WB-57F jet planes. - NASA
