Everyone knows about Black Friday as the busiest shopping day of the year. The day after Black Friday has been dubbed in recent years as 'Small Business Saturday' which encourages you to go out and shop at some locally owned stores, eat at some locally owned establishments and keep the money local to our community.

The idea is simple enough. All you have to do is do some shopping on Saturday, too, to support the local economy and local businesses that also hire locally. That way our town and grow and flourish.

I'm not saying you have to buy a car or a new bedroom set unless you needed one. But even something as simple as getting breakfast at a local diner, get that new CD at a local music store, getting a coffee at a local coffee stand, buying socks at a local clothing store or filling your fridge back up after Thanksgiving by going grocery shopping at a local grocery store would be fantastic.

If I could have it my, every day would be Small Business Saturday as I try to support our local businesses as much as possible. This is one of those days that if we all go out and pick up a little something, it'd make a huge impact.
