CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming Department of Revenue officials say Internet sales tax could bring up to $46 million in revenue each year if it were collected.

Department of Revenue Director Dan Noble said this week at a Joint Revenue Committee that the state is missing out on millions by not collecting tax on online purchases.

The committee met Wednesday and Thursday to discuss ways the state could save and raise money.

Noble says South Dakota has enacted a law to collect taxes on Internet purchases and now receives almost 70 percent of the state's revenue from sales taxes. However a group of online retailers has sued the state, arguing the law is unconstitutional.

The committee has not advanced any proposals to the legislature.
