The University of Wyoming and Colorado State University may be arch-rivals but Cowboys Coach Larry Shyatt still thinks the Rams got a raw deal from the NCAA

Shyatt says that while he's glad three teams from the Mountain West Conference made the NCAA tournament, Colorado State should have been invited as well.

Wyoming received an automatic bid to "March Madness" by winning the conference tournament. They join San Diego State and Boise State as conference representatives.

But Shyatt says ''it's incredible" that CSU, with a  27-6 overall record (13-5 MWC) didn't get in. In fact Shyatt says the Rams not only should have gotten in "they probably should have been a 9 or a 10 seed".

Colorado State's RPI rating--which measures the quality of their opponents--was 29th in the country, or better than over half of the 64 team NCAA tournament field. Shyatt says the Mountain West was "stymied" by the CSU snub.

The Rams will have to console themselves with being a number 1 seed in the less-prestigious NIT, or National Invitational Tournament.

Wyoming, meanwhile, is a number 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament. They face Northern Iowa, a number five seed, Friday morning at 11:40 in Seattle.
