Soul Asylum's last studio album was The Silver Lining in 2006 and after years of being on the road, Rolling Stone.com reports that they are getting ready to release their 10th studio album.

Original bass player Karl Mueller was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2004 and Soul Asylum organized a benefit concert in their hometown of Minneapolis that raised more than 50 thousand dollars. Mueller played on The Silver Lining but it was his final album, he died in 2005.

Tommy Stinson is filling in on bass but is also a member of Guns N' Roses so when he's away, Pete Donnelly will be the bassist. Former Prince drummer Michael Bland joins the band along with longtime members Dan Murphy and Dave Pirner.

Some of the completed tracks include "Gravity," "Into the Light" and "The Streets." Pirner tells Rolling Stone the completed album should be ready within the next six months. The album title and label have not yet been announced and tour plans will be decided once the album is released.
