There's nothing quite like the shock of learning something new that can inadvertently change your entire outlook on a situation. Thus was the case after a quick Google search illuminated me on St. Patrick's Day.

Having Irish heritage from my maternal unit, I thought I was pretty well educated on my Gaelic history. Boy, was I wrong. For starters, I didn't know March 17th was actually the day Saint Patrick died.

Among the myriad of other things I didn't know, was that corned beef and cabbage wasn't a famous Irish delicacy... at least not in Ireland. I also wasn't aware, that St. Paddy's, at least the way most Americans celebrate it, was created here in the states. Probably the thing that threw me for the biggest loop, is the fact that green isn't the color of Saint Patrick either! It's in fact actually blue!

Mind blown!
