What started as a report of stalking led to a high speed chase into Nebraska before the suspect was arrested Wednesday afternoon, according to Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Dan Long.

He says officers were originally called to 1930 Pershing Pointe in Cheyenne around 1;30 p.m. Long says police had gotten  a report that Joseph Mladenik, 40, of Cheyenne, was in the area making threats.

Long says police found Mladenik leaving the scene in a gray Ford Explorer and tried to stop him.  Mladenik did not stop and led police in a vehicle chase onto I-80 where the Wyoming Highway Patrol took over.  The pursuit was taken over by Nebraska Highway Patrol after Mladenik crossed the state line.  The pursuit eventually ended near Potter, Neb.

Mladenik was found to have a .40 caliber handgun on his person and another handgun and AK47 rifle in his vehicle.  He was charged in Nebraska on three felony charges, including DWUI and eluding law enforcement, as well as carrying a concealed weapon.

Mladenik has two misdemeanor warrants out of Laramie County for stalking and the Cheyenne Police Department is investigating Mladenik in connection with two other stalking cases.

This case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
