Senior Wyoming State Economist Jim Robinson says all signs point to big crowds  at Cheyenne Frontier Days 2016 events.

Robinson says despite the downturn in some areas of the state economy, one exception has been tourism, which is having an outstanding year based on figures for visitation to Wyoming National Parks and other indicators.

He says low gas prices are a major factor in that, as well as a generally improving economy in most states that generally send large numbers of visitors to Wyoming.

Robinson says those factors as well as a generally strong travel season across the country bode well for CFD attendance.

Cheyenne tourism officials, including Visit Cheyenne President Darren Rudloff and Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dale Steenbergen have likewise been predicting a big year, citing strong advance ticket sales for many Frontier Days events and pre-CFD inquiries as among the indicators of big crowds in 2016.
