Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and C-E-O Dale Steenbergen says  the city of Cheyenne should take a hard look at the regulatory hurdles it places before local businesses. Steenbergen says that while the city’s new Unified Development Code is one area of concern, there are other regulatory issues in local codes and ordinances as well. Steenbergen says that while he feels most of the regulations are well intentioned and not designed  specifically to hinder business, the cumulative effect has been to make it more difficult to open a new business in the area and  in some cases has added to the cost of doing business for existing enterprises. Steenbergen says he would like to see a review of both city and county ordinances governing businesses to see where sensible changes could be made to improve the climate for economic development.
