Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President Dale Steenbergen says a Hilton Hotel being proposed for 17th Street and Pioneer Avenue could help revitalize the downtown area.

Steenbergen says chain is considering a 122 room Hilton Garden Inn for the location. He says beyond the hotel itself and the guests it would bring, there is the potential for drawing other complimentary businesses to the area.

Steenbergen also recently told the Cheyenne City Council Finance committee that concerns the Hilton would hurt other downtown hotels are unfounded. He says national studies have shown that clusters of hotels tend to do about 20 percent more business than stand-alone lodging establishments.
