What concert memories do you have from Red Rocks?

The famous natural amphitheatre west of Denver in Morrison has hosted many great shows over the years including Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble.

I have many fond memories of Red Rocks; I saw my first Grateful Dead concert there in 1982 and got to see Blues Traveler's Fourth of July show with the Denver fireworks in the background. It is a spectacular venue because of the extraordinary views and the magnificent acoustics.

For tonight's KING Concert Cut about 7:50, I'll feature a performance of 'Pride and Joy' by Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble recorded at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

I was fortunate to see Stevie Ray Vaughan play at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, near the Griffith Observatory, during the late 1980's. We'd been driving through Hollywood and I spotted a poster nailed to a light pole saying Stevie Ray Vaughan was playing that night. We drove around the block to double check the date and time.

During the concert, it was as if Stevie Ray Vaughan was channeling his guitar work from above. The amazing licks he picked seemed effortless as he played his guitar behind his back, behind his head and even using his teeth. It was easily one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

Listen for tonight's KING Concert Cut, maybe you'll hear your scream from the audience if you were there.
