The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service says strong winds could make travel in many parts of southeast Wyoming problematic starting tonight (Dec. 20).

The service posted this statement on its website on Thursday:

"Strong winds are expected to return to our wind prone areas tonight into Friday. A High Wind Watch is in effect for Arlington, Elk Mountain and south Laramie Range on Interstate 80 as well as the Bordeaux area on Interstate 25. Expect winds to begin increasing after sunset today, becoming strong in the late evening. Westerly winds of 35-50 mph with gusts to 65 mph could create dangerous travel conditions for light weight and high profile vehicles, such as light load semis and those towing camper trailers. Drive safe and slow. Stay tuned for possible updates on these watches later today."
