The USDA Food Pyramid Becomes a Dinner Plate
Food Pyramid Gets a Makeover (USDA.gov)Are you eating the right amounts of the different food groups?
Since 1992, the United States Department of Agriculture has used the food pyramid to demonstrate the proper amounts of fruits, vegetables, grains, meat and dairy to eat in order to stay the healthiest.
Last Thursday, June 2, the USDA rolled out it's new food icon, the dinner plate. It's divided into two larger sections representing grains and vegetables and two smaller sections of fruit and protien with a cup of dairy on the side.
