I thought I knew just about everything about Wyoming, but I was obviously wrong. I had not heard about petrified wood in Wyoming's Blue Forest, but that's exactly what an explorer showed in a new video.
It's always exciting when we find some more dinosaur fossils around Wyoming and our neighboring states. I personally love stories like this and of course the massive amounts of dedication that folks put into carefully extracting the bones to put them on display for all of us.
In Thermopolis, there is the Wyoming Dinosaur Center which is featured in this video. They are one of the only museums with a dig site within driving distance.

You'll be able to find a lot of all those and more at the 16th annual Cheyenne Mineral, Fossil, Gem and Rock Show this weekend at the Archer Complex east of the Capitol City on Interstate 80.
Paleontologists are wrapping up their first excavation in 30 years inside a bizarre cave in northern Wyoming thought to hold the remains of tens of thousands of ancient animals. They're not entirely sure yet what they've found in two weeks of digging at Natural Trap Cave, but they're planning further study back in their labs...

You'll find lots more than just rocks this weekend at the American Legion Post 6 at 2001 East Lincolnway.
It's the Cheyenne Mineral, Fossil, Gem and Rock Show from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, and Sunday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $3 and 12 and under get in free.
