Do you still own any old TV's? We didn't realize how old our TV's were until we recently upgraded to flat screens and tried to dispose of our old sets, still complete with VHS tape players.

How do you dispose of your old batteries? After you replace the batteries in your remote or smoke alarms, where do you put the dead batteries? I always put ours in a battery box under the sink waiting for the next hazardous waste disposal day. Now I have found out that old 9-volt batteries can start fires.

Cheyenne City officials are reminding residents that hazardous wastes are not accepted at the city landfill on Happy Jack Road. Commercially generated wastes as defined under federal and state law are not permitted at the landfill. Vehicles containing such waste will not be allowed either at the landfill or at the city Solid Waste Transfer Station, according to release from the city...

Reservations are not needed for the event, which will be conducted on a first-come, first serve basis.

Items accepted at Sunday's event include pesticides, motor oil, household cleaners, antifreeze, solvents and oil-based paint.

Do you have a pile of tires you want to get rid of? How about used batteries? This Saturday, May 18, is the Cheyenne and Laramie County Tire & Battery Collection Day from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Transfer Station, 220 North College Drive.
