'Billboard' Final Weekend at LCCC Includes Panel Discussion Friday

Have you ever felt like a walking billboard? Sometimes I feel like I'm advertising for the rock bands appearing on my t-shirts.

The current production at Laramie County Community College, 'Billboard,' addresses the topic. The play about a man who wears advertising on his forehead is a comedy about the battle of commercialism, fame, art and love.

After the Friday, April 26, show a panel discussion will be held to talk about the play, the LCCC production and the central issues it brings up.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Available at LCCC for Free Tax Preparation

Have you started working on filing your income taxes yet?

For households whose total income in 2012 was less than $50,000, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is available at Laramie County Community College.

Beginning January 30 through April 15, VITA IRS Certified Volunteers will prepare income tax returns free for those who do not have enough money to pay a professional. Volunteers are available on Mondays and Wednesdays between 5 and 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in LCCC's Training Center, Building 16, room 103.

Have you ever wanted to climb Mount Everest?

You can get an idea of what it's like climbing the world's highest peak by attending Mark Jenkins' talk at Laramie County Community College on Tuesday, January 29, at 7 p.m.

Jenkins, a Wyoming native, is an avid climber and writer-in-residence at the University of Wyoming. He climbed Mount Everest last spring as part of a North Face expedition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first American ascent of the mountain.

Have you ever wanted to be an astronaut?

The opportunity is closer than ever for members of the public to take a trip into space. Retired astronaut Jeff Ashby will present 'The View from Space...Be an Astronaut' at Laramie County Community College on Thursday, October 25, at 7 p.m. The event is free and will be held in the Union Pacific Centennial Room inside LCCC's Center for Conferences and Institutes building.
